The Nike LeBron 11 Elite Hero releases tomorrow, May 9, the latest colorway of LeBron James’s postseason shoe. Which is fitting, because LeBron James is currently playing in the postseason. Ahhhh . . . the theme presents itself.Sporting a colorway inspired by LBJ’s superhuman traits — figuratively; there are probably rules against the Teen Wolf-like participation of only vaguely humanoid beings in an NBA game — the shoe sports red over a silhouette that’s sleeker, lower than the typical XI, and locked down with an articulated external cage. Hyperposite protection is inserted into each side and rendered in black, matching up with the reinforcing Flywire. Finally, that sole — cushioned with a combination of Zoom Air and Lunarlon foam — is finished in teal, lending the shoe the contrast that Teen Wolf never had. (Yellow jerseys with brown fur? Sartorial common sense called. . . .)Grab a pair at Nike Basketball accounts tomorrow, including online retailers beginning at 8am EDT. That chain of logic continues throughout, constantly pushing characters to attempt new challenges and opponents. If you can beat someone at table tennis, beat someone better. Eventually, why not lose the table and just beat Serena Williams in tennis? Good at basketball? Test your game against LeBron (who throws down a spectacular dunk near the end).Best of all, the ad links up with the Nike ecosystem, allowing Nike users to undertake a set of pre-determined challenges inspired by the film’s concept. The spot is directed by the acclaimed Nicolai Fuglsig. Addressing this new route of interactive advertising, Nike global chief marketing officer David Grasso says: With ‘Possibilities’ we’re taking ‘Just Do It’ to a whole new place, showing people a new way to set goals and think about their own athletic potential, then helping them to achieve those goals through products, services and inspiration.Previous story Air Jordan 5 FEAR Releases in Three DaysNext story Nike Air Tech Challenge Huarache Retro TOUR YELLOWRelated PostsThe Year in Nike Films | 10 Best Swoosh AdsDecember 30, 2014Watch: LeBron James Talks Signature ShoesDecember 2, 2014Watch: LeBron James ‘Together’ Ad Celebrates Cleveland UnityOctober 30, 2014Watch: Sprite Imagines “LeBron James’ First Home Game”October 28, 2014FacebookSearch NikeBlog.comRecent PostsNew Nike Football Cleat Types Bring Speed to Every PositionNike LeBron 12 “Akron” PE is StunningNike Free Flyknit Hot Lava | Latest Flyknit Model Finally DropsThe Statuesque Air Jordan 9 “Militia Green”Nike Air Max NM Red/Black | Hideo’s Heat Returns!Recent PostsNew Nike Football Cleat Types Bring Speed to Every PositionNike LeBron 12 “Akron” PE is StunningNike Free Flyknit Hot Lava | Latest Flyknit Model Finally DropsThe Statuesque Air Jordan 9 “Militia Green”Nike Air Max NM Red/Black | Hideo’s Heat Returns!MIssionTo provide the most up to date news, images, and opinions on today's top sneaker company.FIND ARTICLESHomeAboutAdvertise on NBContactPrivacyTwitterFacebookRSSNikeBlog.com is not affiliated with the Nike, Inc. brand in any way, shape, or form. Just a week after dropping a couple of pretty hot pairs, they’re at it again, this time with the Zoom LeBron VI Akron, a tribute to LeBron’s home town. The shoe has a canvas blue upper upon which is printed an Akron cityscape as well as street signs, trees and a chain link fence. To contrast the blue canvas, the upper is set off with yellow eyelets, a yellow-bordered white Swoosh, and an icy white toe box.I’m a middle-of-the-road fan when it comes to the Zoom LeBron VI. I kind of like the shoe, but not enough to buy all of them that come out; I need a tight colorway. Well Nike has achieved that in spades here. The Zoom LeBron 6 Akron might be THE tightest colorway we’ve seen so far, and possibly that we will see. The canvas against the bright white leather just looks fantastic, and the light print on the canvas has a really nice but understated look, much more subtle than the lasering that Nike and Jordan Brand are so fond of these days. The Nike Zoom LeBron VI Akron drops Friday, March 13 at House of Hoops. This weekend should have a lot of nice releases, so it’s good to see this one staggered a day early.
