The shoe clearly takes some design cues from the Air Max LeBron VII with its silhouette white patent area that circles the shoe, but it also resembles past Soldier shoes especially with the midfoot strap. Not a ton of information is available yet, but stick with NB for the details as they come. Per the usual with the Soldiers, we’ll see quite a variety of colorways. Along with the Hyperdunk Elite and Kobe VII Elite, the Nike LeBron 9 Elite release date is also scheduled for next Saturday, April 28th. Also like those other two Elite models, the LeBron 9 Elite sports big time performance upgrades such as Kevlar aramid Flywire fibers, carbon fiber reinforcement from the heel through the wing, Nike Pro Combat-style padding in the collar, and Zoom and Max Air cushioning throughout the midsole. Available in time for the NBA Playoffs, when we’ll likely see LeBron wear them on a nightly basis, the first two colorways are fairly all-purpose, with a black ‘away’ edtion and a white ‘home.’ Photos via InsideTheSneakerBox.comNike LeBron 9 EliteWhite/Metallic Gold-Black (Style #: 516958-100)Black/Metallic Gold (Style #: 516958-002)04/28/2012$250#gallery-1 {margin: auto;}#gallery-1 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 33%;}#gallery-1 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-1 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}/* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */Nike LeBron 9 Elite Black/Metallic GoldNike LeBron 9 Elite Black/Metallic GoldNike LeBron 9 EliteNike LeBron 9 Elite White/Metallic Gold-BlackNike LeBron 9 Elite White/Metallic Gold-BlackNike LeBron 9 Elite White/Metallic Gold-BlackNike LeBron 9 Elite White/Metallic Gold-Black

As you can see this is a significant departure from the product that will hit shelves, but at the same time the prototype seems to represent a deconstructed, stripped down version (even the Flywire is bare, without the extra layer of Hyperfuse added on). I think everyone can agree that the retail-version of the LeBron 9 is the better of the two (check out the Miami Hurricanes-inspired colorway), but would this deconstructed “9” prototype have been worth purchasing?
